Van Halen no tour!!??

They wussed out! Van Halen will not be touring this summer. I guess the egos are too big. It goes back into my wish file.

Parrot Heads gather at Jimmy Buffett

Oh no, not Soldier Field for Jimmy Buffett this time. He's going to be performing at the best Jimmy Buffett venue in the Midwest, Alpine Valley on July 28th. That show date should give me time to recover from ten days of Summerfest before walking the Alpine Valley grounds and having a few drinks with all the fans. I can see it now, the sun, the booze, the fun, the crazy guy who fills his pick-up truck with water and sits in his tiny pool for the show. As usual, the Jimmy Buffett tickets sold out in minutes. It's snowing now, but in five months the sun will burn my back and Jimmy Buffett will be on stage singing Cheeseburger In Paradise!

Van Halen without Michael Anthony?

Would you go to a Van Halen show without Mr. Michael Anthony playing away on bass? Yes, David Lee Roth makes it a real band again, but now Mr. Anthony is out? Gheeesh! I expect, no I demand that they play in Wisconsin this summer. It would just be nice if Michael was hammering away on bass. Can you imagine a Summerfest date for Van Halen? You wander around the Summerfest grounds all day, get too much sun, too many beers, and just in time, you walk into the Marcus Amphitheater and sit down to see one of the classic rock and roll bands of the 70's and 80's. I can hear it already....Panama, Jump, Hot For Teacher, Jamie's Cryin'.

Rascal Flatts crept up on me

Hey a great band that I totally forgot about is coming to town. Rascal Flatts will be here March 29th. It's at the Bradley Center which should make it interesting, considering the size of that place. I have a friend that called me and asked if I was going to that show. I don't know just yet. If I can get a ticket in the lower level, I would go. I can't sit up so high in the nosebleed section at The Bradley Center. I'm sure others would agree with me on that.

Local Music night

I drove to Janesville this weekend to check out some local music. The Back Bar had The Skintones, Binky Tunny (pictured here) and some other band whose name I forgot. The Skintones were tight and fun to watch. They reminded me of Rage Against The Machine in in some ways. Speaking of, I hear that Rage might add tour dates to their reunion tour. Could a Rage Against The Machine show happen in Milwaukee, and would Tickets for Rage be in my price range? I see Rage playing The Marcus Amp. in Milwaukee During Summerfest. Other Summerfest Marcus Amphitheater shows I could easily go to see would be Roger Waters of Pink Floyd. I'll be at work the day that Roger Waters tickets go on sale, so I'm calling Ticket King to get tickets for that show. You never have to wait in line for tickets like the old days. Anyway, to get back to the local music. After The Skintones, Binky Tunny came up and rocked very hard. Binky was shouting out songs for her band to play, and they played them with heart even though the band had NEVER even played certain songs before that moment. Killer show that Binky Tunny, I give them four stars, so you better see them in Milwaukee some time. That's where they are from. By the time I left Janesville it was snowing. A slow drive back to Milwaukee reminded me that I have lots of great plans to see more music. Still no tour date for The Police to play in Milwaukee, but if they do I'm sure it will be at The Bradley Center and Ticket King will be called again for great tickets to that show too.
I'm too old to be waiting in line outside just to get a crappy seat. Besides, those guys at Ticket King are nice enough to tell me where I will be sitting and what side the stage is on, etc. It's worth the time to call them. Ok, I'm blabbing on now. Gotta' go.

Norah Jones Milwaukee show!

Norah Jones at The Riverside is going to be a great show. What a great venue for her style of music. Every time I see a show at The Riverside, I am reminded of how nice that place is. May weather for Norah Jones in Milwaukee could be a warm day, or a snow day, who knows. Got to get in line for tickets in the next few minutes. It would be nice to sit up close. And now if The Police could just announce a show date for Milwaukee, I would be so fired up. Saw them on the Grammys. Why did they only play one song? This is the year of the reunion shows. Van Halen, The Police, Rage Against The Machine, even Genesis is talking about a reunion show. Bring em' on and bring them to Wisconsin!

Concert announcements

What makes me forget about the cold February weather? Tour dates being set for Wisconsin concerts!

My wish list for summer 2007:
Van Halen...with David Lee Roth of course.
Dave Matthews, yes one more time.
The Police, anywhere in Wisconsin would be nice.

I never dread that question "what kind of music do you like?"
I like it all.

I take off during the Summerfest run, I usually go to all the bigger shows here in Wisconsin.
That should tell you how crazy I am about live music.
I'm feeling warmer already.

For the kids

I'm a bit too old for this one, but they just made the cover of Rolling Stone.
Fall Out Boy is coming to The Bradley Center in Milwaukee on May 17th. Are they worthy of a Bradley Center show? Are they that popular? Perhaps it's the music industry having high hopes of a successful tour. I don't think the upper level will have a single ticket holder for that show. Will The Bradley Center tap a keg for the chaperone that brings their 14 year old? Time will tell if this band is more than a passing fad.
