Tool July 4th at Summerfest

Tool July 4th at Summerfest, will headline at Marcus Amphitheater. "Math rock" is what I heard. My nephew called from Seattle to say that he wants to come to Milwaukee and see Tool play at Summerfest. I may have to slide in and see these guys. If the weather is good, it's kind of nice to hang out at the beer stand above the lawn section at The Marcus Amphitheater just to watch the entire experience. The Tool show may be my "standing around" show. Heck, all it will cost me is the price of one ticket to see Tool at Summerfest. Meanwhile, I'm heading to Heartbreakers to see Binky Tunny tomorrow night. The line up is good, and the strippers hang out in another room. For the ladies who think I'm putting dollar bills in g-strings, please note: No strippers enter the band room unless requested, and half the time they don't bother coming over because music fans aren't interested in wasting money on tits. Every time my wife comes along she has a good time.

Fall Out Boy May 17th, Milwaukee

"Dance Dance" to Fall Out Boy May 17th at The Bradley Center. My co-worker has a 10 year old son that really likes this band. Their latest cd has had strong sales. These Chicago boys are making the best of a good situation and riding the wave of success. A quick check of the TM website shows that Fall Out Boy sold Bradley Center reserved tickets all the way back to the corners of the lower level. I wonder what it is like to play in such a big venue like the Bradley Center?

Christina Aguilera slow sales

According to my sources, the Christina Aguilera show for April 20th at The Bradley Center still has good tickets available. Is this indicative of the overall change in the music industry? CD sales continue to drop, downloads do not make up for the loss in sales. Perhaps the consumer has finally tired of being fed the musical gruel that the major record labels have to offer. Perhaps the consumer is tired of paying $19 for a CD, and tired of paying .99 per song.

Among current top selling CD's are musical soundtracks, compilations, and the like. What does that say about the artists being promoted?

Beatallica on the road

A local band is making great strides in Europe. Beatallica, a combination of Metallica melodies and Beatles lyrics make for some interesting interpretations of two classical, but diametrically opposed styles. The bass player, Kliff McBurtney is a personal friend who deserves all the accolades that come with European tours, CD sales, and extra loving from his one-and-only groupie Emily. I have witnessed this melting of The Beatles and Metallica at Vnuk's. If they get back to Milwaukee, get your arses down there and check out Beatallica.

Rush in Milwaukee

The legendary RUSH comes to Milwaukee on September 6, 2007. A great venue has been picked for this RUSH show, the Marcus Amphitheatre. I'm going to get my RUSH tickets soon.

I am sure That RUSH tickets will sell out very quickly. Rush is not playing The Bradley Center but you can get your tickets there too. I'm sure RUSH could fill that venue.

See you there!?

Harry Connick Review

My wife is a huge fan of Harry Connick. We rolled in to the Milwaukee Theater just in time to catch the start of the show. His drummer, Arthur Latin II played a solo in the first five minutes of the evening, which kept things up-beat. (no pun intended)

His band is always top-notch. That makes it easy to watch Harry Connick when you aren't the biggest fan in the world. The Milwaukee Theater is a great venue. Too bad there aren't more rock shows there.

Check out Arthur Latin II some time. He's a worthy drummer.

Keith Urban, Country?

This summer Keith Urban will be performing at The Bradley Center on July 26th. Is this truly country music? They dress him up to compete with all the pretty boys of country, so that's strike one. Every cd save for one, has a song with the word "love" in it. That's strike two. He's from Australia, strike three. If you are into lots of songs about love, and you like to have a pretty boy do the singing, then by all means go to this show.....I guess.

Hey Police, come play in Milwaukee!

July 7th is an open date for The Police. They are in Chicago for two nights prior to that, so why not just drive them up to Milwaukee for Summerfest. Ok, I realize that Wrigley Field is four times larger than The Marcus Amp., but The Police would be a great show for the Summerfest line up. Who wants to sit in the upper-upper deck at Wrigley just to watch a huge screen? I did that at Pink Floyd in Milwaukee years ago, and I left before the encore.
