Daughtry........yawn....ZZZZZZ

Rounding out the Summerfest Marcus line-up is Daughtry. Sadly, I expected someone better. I'm not Smiling Mr. Smiley. For the record, I have never seen an episode of American Idol. I had to ask where Daughtry placed in that "competition." He didn't win. The Summerfest fans didn't win either. Is that all there is? Is that all there is? Is that all there is? If that's all there is, my friends, Then let's keep dancing. Let's break out the booze And have a ball ... - Peggy Lee

Summerfest 2007 Headliners

What Summerfest Marcus Amphitheater acts will you go see, and do you have your tickets yet? Will it be the teen-age girl attracting John Mayer, will it be Ludacris, will it be the old farts known as Styx, and the ever annoying Foreigner? For me, it would have to be Roger Waters, or Tool. Panic at the Disco is a total pass, no interest in that one at all. Perhaps my 15-year-old nephew would like that show. Toby Keith, the war whore is out. Bon Jovi is not my style, but that band has the dedicated fan base that will buy tickets. Any musician would love to have that many fans. The Fray with OK Go, is a lightweight in my opinion. Steely Dan would be one of those shows that would be ok if it were on a side stage, and the sun were still up and you had a huge pile of food in front of you. That would be a good warm-up show for the band you really want to see that night. I'll comment on the side-stages once they are fully booked.

WMM out.

The Original Family Stone at Summerfest

July 2nd The Original Family Stone will perform at Summerfest. Here is the line up. TENOR SAX Jerry Martini TRUMPET Cynthia Robinson LEAD VOCALS/KEYBOARD Rose Stone KEYBOARD Thomas Tasche Cryer II LEAD VOCALS Fred Ross BASS Blaise Sison LEAD GUITAR Nate Wingfield DRUMS John Mader

Did you see that there is no SLY STONE in this line-up?
I'm sure it will rock and funk, but no Sly? Ouch.
I would have put up a link to the Original Family Stone site, but as of this posting it was down.

I played with a guitar player that had lined up a gig playing for Sly Stone way back when. Unfortunately, Sly had gone AWOL just before the tour. That was sometime in the 80's.

Fall Out Boy plays to half the house

My sources tell me that Fall Out Boy at The Bradley Center was half-full. They closed off the entire 400 level, and still there were seats available in the lower reserved. What's up with the huge number of opening acts? That source I mentioned said she "waited a lifetime"for Fall Out Bot to start playing their set. Who could fill the Bradley Center today? Roger Waters, The Police, possibly Jimmy Buffett, but a modern show, I doubt anyone could manage that feat.

My guess is that Fall Out Boy will be playing The Riverside Theater next year. The fans are growing up fast.

Nickelback at Alpine Valley

Nickelback will be dropping down to Alpine Valley, like a cold front from Canada on July 21st. It seems like the United States can only handle one Canadian band at a time. Staying power is what this band has in great supply. Their videos buck the super-fast cut, cut, cut trend, so they must be marketing towards the 30+ fan base. If you ever watch the Country Music Channel, you will see that their videos are much slower paced. Perhaps that's because those fans need the extra time to take in all those fancy lights and colors on the moving picture box. Don't get me wrong, I like the GAC videos that feature real country music. I'm way off track here. Nickelback's hit songs include Photograph and Leader of Men. When Nickelback was called out for having two songs that were nearly identical, Mike Kroeger replied "When you are a band that has a distinct style such as us or AC/DC, that happens." Excuse me Mike, you shouldn't put yourself on the same level as AC/DC in any way. AC/DC may have songs that sound the same, but they back it up with hits, fans, and rock that has lasted for decades.

Allman Brothers at Pabst Theater

Allman Brothers play Milwaukee at the Riverside Theater on Aug 26 2007. That band has some long-time fans for sure. On the website AllButForgotton.com you will find two of their big hits: Ramblin Man, and Midnight Rider. The picture here shows that at least two of these guys look like Jesus of Nazareth.

I'll bet they don't look like Jesus anymore.

American Idol invading Milwaukee in August

I have never seen this show. I refuse to accept that anything good comes from American Idol.

If you pour enough water through the tightest filter, it may be safe enough to drink, but that doesn't make it delicious.

August 5th Bradley Center, American Idol.
Who is this kid?
