Rush June 27th at Summerfest

Rush comes back to Milwaukee on June 27th at Summerfest. When rush came through last fall, there was an initial rush to get tickets. Near the end, the fans waited for a bargan before they bought their tickets. This time, one would suspect that there will be a contingent of "been there, done that" fans. It's just too soon for some fans, and who knows how many others will pull the trigger and go since this time the show is during Summerfest itself. I was at Summerfest the night Roger Waters played the Marcus Amphitheater, and the crowd was a mix of stoners and stuck-in-the-70's-for-life zombies. I think Rush brings in a crowd that is smarter.

Summerfest 2007 Headliners

What Summerfest Marcus Amphitheater acts will you go see, and do you have your tickets yet? Will it be the teen-age girl attracting John Mayer, will it be Ludacris, will it be the old farts known as Styx, and the ever annoying Foreigner? For me, it would have to be Roger Waters, or Tool. Panic at the Disco is a total pass, no interest in that one at all. Perhaps my 15-year-old nephew would like that show. Toby Keith, the war whore is out. Bon Jovi is not my style, but that band has the dedicated fan base that will buy tickets. Any musician would love to have that many fans. The Fray with OK Go, is a lightweight in my opinion. Steely Dan would be one of those shows that would be ok if it were on a side stage, and the sun were still up and you had a huge pile of food in front of you. That would be a good warm-up show for the band you really want to see that night. I'll comment on the side-stages once they are fully booked.

WMM out.

Roger Waters sold out

The first sold out show for Summerfest is Roger Waters. Imagine the sights and sounds that will be emanating from The Marcus Amphitheater that night. The demographic for that show runs from 20 to 60 year olds.
I hope the folks that book the music for Summerfest manage to land more musical acts that sell out the place! Roger Waters tickets moved very fast. I think that there were only bleacher tickets available after the first couple of minutes of the on-sale. The Summerfest ticket admission will get me close to the action that night. I'm still deciding which Summerfest shows I am going to go to.

Roger Waters does Pink Floyd

On July 2nd, I'll be at Summerfest. I'll be going back in time to the 70's when I buy my ticket, sit and listen to Roger Waters playing Dark Side Of The Moon at Summerfest. He's going to play the entire album (yes album, not CD) during the second half of his set. I'm a bit too young to remember when the album came out, but it continues to sell to this day. I have a copy on my IPod, and I have my brother's scratchy album. I remember hearing that album while hanging out on the deck above our garage way back when. I think my parents let me say "bullsh*t" when I sang along, without being scolded. In fact I remember hearing it on AM radio without being bleeped. The Roger Waters show sold out in less than 1/2 hour, so I avoided the lawn seats and bought my tickets at Ticket King. That one was a no brainer. I'm not sitting in the hot setting sun, or the rain, or the wind if it's off the lake.
